First Day In Your Home For New Puppy

Author: Chris Weber

Bringing a new puppy home is a little stressful on the both of the puppy and the new dog owner to be. There are a couple things that can probably help the both of you stay a little more calm and be happy with the decisions you decide. The day you decide to bring the puppy back at home a couple of things should be thought out and most likely used.

First, try and get or obtain your new puppy in the morning. This way the new puppy has as much time until dark to become fully aware of it's surroundings and will sleep better. This kind of helps from staying up too late due to bringing the puppy home too late like a lot of families do and just makes us humans sleep more at ease with us knowing a whole day is done and gone by with the puppy.

Second, try and figure out a day that routine is the same as always and the house you live in is going to be as calm as possible for that first entrance. If you have other bigger pets or dogs, maybe keep the two secluded for that first day. Everything needs to be as calm as possible for the new puppy. The factors are much worse for the puppy to be scarred than the older dog or even us humans for all that matter.

Thirdly, let the puppy do what it wants without being yelled at. It will most likely explore all the new things depending on what type of breed it is and how shy the puppy is. Some puppies crawl into a ball and others make themselves at home within minutes. It all just depends on what type of puppy you happened to get.

So remember to have an open mind and to take into account that the puppy is most likely way more scarred than you are. Have the puppy meet the older dog maybe within a couple of hours. The process will go smoothly as long as you keep an eye on your new puppy. Good luck, and enjoy man's best friend.
